Obituary of William James Regan

William James “Bill” Regan, 85, devoted husband to Susan, dearly loved Father, beloved Granda, Great Granda, Brother-In-Law and Uncle was called to be with the Lord on July 10, 2010. Will be lovingly remembered by the entire family circle and is loved by all the lives he touched. Willie is now absent from the body and present with the Lord. As a young boy of 14, he put his faith and trust in Jesus Christ his Savior and Lord. He was an active member at Monticello Gospel Hall with prior years at Gracemount Bible Chapel and Akron Gospel Hall. Willie was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, to Samuel Hugh and Mary Ellen Regan. He married his “Sweetheart” Susan, in 1947. They traveled to America in 1952, and settled down in Ohio. He worked for the East Ohio Gas Company from 1953 – 1985 and was known as “Duffy” the singing Irishman. During his retirement he enjoyed traveling back to his homeland of Northern Ireland and other travels to Australia and throughout the United States with his wife Susan and family. Willie is preceded in death by his parents and brother Francis. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Susan. Sons Wilfred (Marilyn), Stanley (Maria) and daughter Mary Elizabeth (Richard). Grandsons David James Edward (Julia), Jonathan Robert, Andrew Tyler, Luke Ryan, Kyle Christopher and Brandon Matthew. Great Granddaughter Lana Taylor Christine. Dearly missed by his Sister in laws Susan and Kathleen (Rolly) and Nieces Joan (Burnie) and Helen (David) of Northern Ireland. The family wishes to thank the staff at The Gardens of Western Reserve and Summa Hospice for their loving care and support. Friends may call Thursday 1 to 3 and 4:30 to 6 PM at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road in Stow, where Elder Art Pile Jr. will conduct memorial service Thursday 6 PM.
