Obituary of Gregory A. Starc

Gregory A. Starc, age 51, passed away from a brain aneurysm in the loving arms of his family at The Cleveland Clinic on Monday, July 5, 2010.   He was born November 25, 1958 in Barberton, Oh to Touris Starc and the late Joseph Frank Starc and has been a resident of the greater Akron area for his entire life.  He was a 1977 graduate of Coventry High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Special  Education from Kent State University in 1983. Greg was employed as an Intervention Specialist with Kent City Schools for the past 27 years and has touched the lives of many students and faculty both at Davey Middle School and Kent Roosevelt, High School.   Greg had a passion for Tennis and was a member of the Latuchie Men’s 3.5 Tennis team. He was a loving husband, a wonderful father to his daughters, a loyal son, brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends more than anything in the world and he will be sorely missed by all the people he so generously gifted with his love and friendship.     He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Frank. Greg is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Liz (Elizabeth); his children, Alicia Nicole age 19 and Sara Elizabeth age 15; his mother, Touris Starc of Barberton; his brother, Joseph (Donna) Starc of Barberton; sister Loraine ( Charles) Horner of San Diego, CA; his niece Amanda and nephew Joseph (JT) and his Uncle Richard Taylor of Doylestown, Oh.   The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, July 9th  5-8 p.m, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 10th at 10:00 a.m at Redmon with burial immediately following at Silver Springs Cemetery on Stow Road.   In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the  Gregory A. Starc Memorial Scholarship Fund at any 5/3rd Bank location.  Mr. Starc's video tribute may be viewed here.
