Obituary of Willard I. Spade

TALLMADGE- Willard I. Spade, 86, went home to be with his Lord and Savior June 14, 2010. Born in Akron, he had lived in Goodyear Heights for 33 years prior to moving to Tallmadge in 1994. A US Army veteran of World War II, Willard had retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber in 1985 with 45 years service. He was faithful in serving the Lord as a volunteer at Haven of Rest and with Gideons International, and was an over 50 year member and deacon of Brown St. Baptist Church, where he also served as Treasurer of the Brown Street Missionary Fund. Preceded in death by his parents Ira and Laura Spade, he is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy; nieces Joyce Berkenstock and Phyllis White; brother-in-law Dick (Julie) Smith; nieces Karen (David) Swift, Sharon Slingerland, Hannah (Michael) Paulin and nephew Brian Swift. The family would like to extend their special thanks to Dr. Joseph Dankoff and Sue McElhiney for their care of Willard over the years. Pastors Steven Rebert and Robert Kuhns will conduct service Monday 11 AM at Redmon Funeral Home, where friends may call Sunday 1 to 3 PM and Monday from 10 AM until service time. Burial Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
