Obituary of Rita M. Biscan

Rita M. Biscan (Koudelka), 92, of Stow, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on February 20, 2015. Rita was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Anna (Riha) and Anthony Koudelka on January 27, 1923. She was one of the first residents of Maple Heights and parishioner of St. Wenceslas. She graduated from Marymount High School, 1940, then attended classes at John Carroll University as one of the first females. She went on to raising her family of eight in and to a long career as a medical transcriptionist, retiring from Marymount Hospital. A lover of music, she played organ for St. Pius in Bedford. She also enjoyed cooking, crocheting, crosswords and babies. Rita is survived by seven children: MaryBeth Hale of Maryville, IL, Joseph A. Biscan of Belleville, IL, John M. Biscan of Maple Hts, OH, James C. Biscan (Kathy) of Fairview Hts, IL, Thomas P. Biscan of Belleville, IL, Carol A. Thesling (William) of Hudson OH, Patricia McClain of Stow, OH and her beloved friend, Dean McClain of Stow, OH. Grandchildren: Christopher Biscan, Abby Hale, and Katherine Jane Thesling. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Janie Biscan, grandson Patrick Hale, twin brother Robert Koudelka and former husband John J. Biscan. Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Wednesday 5 to 8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Thursday, February, 26 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The National Shrine of Saint Jude.
