Obituary of Albert (Al) C. Burns
Albert (Al) C. Burns, 83, passed away on March 28, after a brief illness. Al was born on February 18, 1932, in Utica New York to Robert Burns and Jenny Williams. He graduated from Utica Free Academy, enlisted in the Army and served in Japan during the Korean conflict. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he graduated from the University of Buffalo with a degree in History and received an MBA from Columbia University. Al worked for General Electric, Price Waterhouse and BF Goodrich before starting his own insurance agency in 1977. He and his wife Marilyn moved to Hilton Head in 1995 and he worked at Moss Creek as a starter for 16 years and volunteered at the Hilton Head Humane Society. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Marilyn and his six brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his sons Stephen (Diedra) and Michael and daughter Jenny Pillen (Randy) and grandchildren Gina Vitullo, and Ryan and Allison Burns. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Hilton Head Humane Association or Hospice of the Low Country in Bluffton, South Carolina. The family will hold private services at a later date.
