Obituary of Joseph Michael Blanda

PENINSULA - Joseph Michael Blanda, 19, passed away April 9, 2015 following a long and courageous battle with brain cancer. Joe graduated from Western Reserve Academy in 2014, where he ran track and was captain of the soccer team. He most recently attended John Carroll University, majoring in Biology. JB3 will fondly be remembered for his zest for life, energy, enthusiasm, athleticism and good humor. He is survived by his parents Dr. Joseph B. Blanda and Dr. Michelle Blanda; his twin sisters Rachel and Jennifer and many other relatives and friends. Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Sunday 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Fr. John D. Terzano and Fr. Edward Kordas will concelebrate Mass of the Christian Burial Monday 11 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 340 N. Main St, Hudson, 44236, where friends may call from 10 AM until service time. Burial All Saints Cemetery. Joe faced his battle with great strength and used his diagnosis as a platform to raise awareness and funds for Glioblastoma research, one of the most aggressive forms of brain cancer. He and his family founded Blast Glioblastoma, www.BlastGBM.com, which is a nonprofit foundation to benefit glioblastoma research.
