Obituary of Leslie Elizabeth Lund
Leslie Elizabeth Lund (nee Young) of Hudson died May 5, 2015 at The Gables of Hudson. Mrs. Lund was born in Middletown, NY on May 23, 1928 to Ruth and Charles L. Young. She is survived by husband Richard, children Stephen of Cary, NC; Jennifer (Steve) Worringer of E. Windsor, NJ; Jon (Suzanne) of Hudson, grandchildren Nathaniel, Timothy and Jenna Lund, and sister Marilyn (Robert) McClurg of Boca Raton, FL.
Leslie was an area resident for over 60 years, moving here from Chicago after attending Goodman Theater School and Columbia College, where she was active in radio broadcasting. In Akron, she was Continuity Director and Women's Editor at WCUE. Leslie retired from the Akron Summit County Library in 1988 after serving as Children's Librarian at both East and Mogadore branches.
A longtime volunteer at Weathervane Community Playhouse, she taught Youth Theater acting and puppetry classes and served for four years as coordinator of the Weathervane Youth Theater programs. In 1972, she originated and produced many of the yearly Women's Board puppet shows that thrilled children for 20 years. She was a charter member and past president of the Puppetry Guild of Northeastern Ohio and a member of the Puppeteers of America. Leslie was honored in 1993 with the Board of Trustees Award and made an Honorary Lifetime Member by the Weathervane Women's Board in 2000. She was active for many years as troop leader, consultant, and trainer for the Western Reserve Girl Scouts.
Cremation has taken place. Donations will be gratefully accepted by the Weathervane Community Playhouse, 1301 Weathervane Lane, Akron, OH 44313.
