Obituary of Martin D Nelson
STOW- Martin D. Nelson, 91, died August 19, 2015.
Born in Akron on February 20, 1924, he was a US Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippines and Guam on the USS Hornet, and had retired from the City of Akron as a supervisor with 30 years of service. Martin was a member of Stow Presbyterian Church and enjoyed being outdoors, bowling, golf and was also an avid fisherman. He loved spending time with his family and laughing with his great grandkids.
Preceded in death by his parents Martin & Gertrude (Young), his wife Helen, the love of his life of 59 years, and by his son James, he is survived by his daughter Nancy Nelson of Stow; granddaughter Tracey (Scott) Gerstenberger and three great-grandchildren Natalie, Henry & John, and many other family and friends.
Pastor Wally Kukuk will conduct graveside services Saturday 11:15 AM at Crown Hill Burial Park, with military honors provided by the US Navy.
