Obituary of Pearl Josephine Marie Clay
PEARL JOSEPHINE MARIE CLAY (nee Faux)
Pearl Josephine Marie Clay (nee Faux), formerly of Munroe Falls, Ohio, was born in Norwich, England on January 4, 1939. She grew up in Norwich and worked at Bally Shoes where she was crowned “Miss Bally” of Bally Shoes in 1958. She later married a US Serviceman who brought her to the US and she became a US Citizen in 1969.
She was preceded in death by her parents, whom she missed dearly, Leonard and Olive “Dot” Faux, and her husband, Kenneth Clay, whom we all miss dearly! She is survived by her brother, Granville Faux, of England, her daughters whom she loved with all of her heart, Michele Corn (nee Lester) of Pocahontas, IL, and Cheryl Reed (nee Clay) of East Amherst, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren who were her pride and joy: Bryan Corn, Isaac Corn, Lydia Crouse (nee Corn), Tasha Rickman (nee Corn), Kayleigh Reed, and Kenneth Reed. She also has four great grandchildren.
Pearl raised her children in the Stow-Munroe Falls area and lived here until 2011, when she moved to be with her daughter’s family in East Amherst, NY. Pearl was most well known in our community for feeding the stray cats at Cuyahoga Falls Water Works Park, sometimes capturing them to have them spayed or neutered to try to end the cycle of homeless and hungry cats in that area. She loved animals and supported local and international animal support and animal rights charities.
She most impressed her friends and family with her knowledge of trivia and ability to solve complex crossword puzzles. She also had the mind of a Jeopardy Champion - beating us to the punch on 80% or more of the answers. Pearl was also a great cook, a talented knitter and seamstress, and a good friend to many here and abroad in England and Canada.
She was a beautiful woman when she was younger and a beautiful soul her whole life. Pearl is now on the “dearly missed” list.
Pearl will be laid to rest next to her husband on Friday, September 11, 2015 at the Stow Cemetery, 3162 Kent Rd., Stow, Ohio following a graveside memorial service at 2:00PM.
