Obituary of M. Ruth Welton

Ruth Welton was born July 24, 1927 to Robert Andrew Sloan and Anna Rebecca Daniels in Apollo, Pennsylvania. She passed away November 5, 2015. Ruth was married to the Rev. Ralph E. Welton, Sr. in Anderson, Indiana in 1947. Together they pastored congregations in Cincinnati, Toledo and Barberton, Ohio; Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; Yazoo City, Mississippi; and Bessemer, Alabama. A homemaker, active churchwoman and secretary/bookkeeper, she ultimately worked in the national office of the Women of the Church of God in Anderson, Indiana. She was a life-long member of the Women of the Church of God, a proud member of the D.A.R., and attended Stow Presbyterian Church. Ruth was accomplished at cooking, baking, sewing, quilting, crocheting, cross stitching, knitting, needle point, and many other crafts. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband. She is survived by her son, Ralph, Jr. (Cathy); daughter Beth (David) Weyrick; five grandchildren, Erin Welton, Ashley (Justin) Powell, Ryan Welton, Amy (Brian) Dvorak, Joshua Weyrick, and two great granddaughters, Ella Powell and Madelyn Dvorak. The family thanks Sprenger Hospice and the staff at Heather Knoll for their compassionate care. Rev. David Weyrick will conduct service Sunday 4 PM at Redmon Funeral Home, where friends may call Sunday from 2 PM until service time. Graveside service and burial will be at Machpelah Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky on Tuesday, November 10. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Camp Manatoc Chaplaincy Program, Great Trail Council Boy Scouts of America, or Sprenger Hospice.
