George Faris

Obituary of George Alan Faris

STOW – Al was born on June 2, 1949 to Faye and Doug Faris in Frankfort, Kentucky. He died on January 26, 2016 at Western Reserve Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio surrounded by his family. Al worked many jobs through the years and was last employed by Northrop Grumman in Euclid, Ohio. A stroke survivor for nearly twenty years, Al still pursued many interests and was a faithful and hopeful follower of the Cleveland Indians. In November, he began the countdown ‘til spring. Last words: “Everything’s going to be ok.” Al was preceded in death by his father, Douglas W. Faris, and his grandparents. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Judith Faris; daughters, Laura (Mark) Negrich, Katey (Steve) Spier; and son, Tom Faris. He is also survived by his mother, Faye Faris; brother, Doug (Martha) Faris; sisters, Diana Faris, Connie (Dave) Smith; and many nieces and nephews. Our thanks and appreciation go out to the ICU staff at Western Reserve Hospital, especially to Dr. Crenshaw and nurse, Devon; to Dr. Paul Gibbons for many years of care; and to Pastor Jim Case for his guidance. Thank you all for preserving Al’s dignity and caring for his family while offering such outstanding care. Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Thursday from 4 to 7 PM. Pastor Jim Case will conduct services Friday at 11 AM at Stow Community United Church of Christ, 1567 Pilgrim Drive, Stow and where friends may call from 10 AM until service time.
