Obituary of Charlotte Alice Schilling
Charlotte A. Schilling, 83, of Stow, Ohio, passed away peacefully at the Akron General Visiting Nurse Hospice Care Center, March 2, 2016 surrounded by her family.
Born in Akron to Charles and Emily Taggart and the oldest of three children, Charlotte graduated from South High School in 1951 and married her beloved husband, Reinhard Schilling, in 1952.
Moving to Stow shortly after being married, Charlotte was an active, 55 year member of The Community Church of Stow serving as a Sunday School teacher, a deaconess and member of the Women’s Fellowship and other committees.
Charlotte worked at Cook Motor Lines before deciding to start a family and later after raising her family, she went to work for and eventually retired from Keen Transportation in Hudson.
Charlotte was very active socially up to the time of her passing spending time with many friends painting water colors with the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center, swimming with her water aerobics class at Life Center Plus, and traveling with the Stow Sunshiners to Alaska, Europe, the Canadian Rockies and other wonderful places. She also loved spending every Tuesday with her dinner group where she was able to share many stories and memories. She loved sewing baby blankets and making memory boards, which she shared and sold at local farmer’s markets.
Most of all, Charlotte was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her greatest wish for the future is that her children and grandchildren enjoy their children and grandchildren as much as she enjoyed hers.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Emily Taggart; her loving husband of 41 years, Reinhard; her brother, Robert Charles Taggart and sister-in-Law, Nettie Fultz.
She leaves behind her sons, Charles (Linda) and Richard (Amy); daughter, Cathy (Richard Marshall); grandchildren, Leah Schilling, Katie Schilling, Sam Schilling, Molly James, Hannah James, Elizabeth Schilling, Emma Turocy (Drew) and Eric Schilling; sister, Louis D’Agostine Schilling; sister-in-law, Anna Trent, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Akron General Home Care Visiting Nurses (Delcie and Ruth) and the Akron General Visiting Nurses Hospice Center for their loving care of our mother and grandmother.
Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Sunday, March 6 from 4 to 7 pm. Pastor Jim Case will conduct the funeral service Monday, 11 am at the Stow Community United Church of Christ, 1567 Pilgrim Drive, Stow 44224. Burial will follow at Stow Cemetery.
