Obituary of Treva Jane Hess
Treva J. Hess, 78, passed away on March 3, 2016.
She was born in Akron and resided most of her life in Stow. Treva graduated from Akron East High School in 1956 and from The University of Akron in 1960. Treva began her teaching career in 1960 for The Akron Public Schools. In 1966, she came to Stow and taught kindergarten at Woodland Elementary and then second grade at Fishcreek Elementary. She retired as a teacher from the Stow Schools in 1996 after 30 years service. She will be remembered by students and parents for her piano playing, tap shoes, sled riding, Buckeye Math and helping her students believe in themselves so that they could succeed in anything they wanted along with her unconditional love.
Treva was a pleasing person who devoted her life to helping others. She surrounded herself with friends whether on the golf course, running a marathon, or traveling. She was avid sports fan for The Ohio State Buckeyes, The Cleveland Indians/Cavaliers and Tiger Woods.
Preceded in death by her parents Carl and Mary Hess, brother Fred Hess, and niece Kerry Sue Hess. She is survived by her son Dave (Dinah) Henderson of Stow, Mary Ann (Doc) Stewart of Canal Fulton and Brian Henderson of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren Parker and SarahKathryn Henderson, Courtney, Emily, Sam and Isabelle Romain and brother John Hess of Grove City, Ohio.
The family would like to thank the Akron General Hospice Center in Akron and the nurses and doctors from Akron General Hospital on the fourth and ninth floors for their exemplary care.
Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for a time of sharing memories on Tuesday, March 8th from 4-7pm. A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, March 9th at 5pm at Christ Episcopal Church, 118 S. Mantua Street, Kent, Ohio 44240.
In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a Treva Hess Scholarship Memorial Fund through Fifth Third Bank that will be given yearly to a graduating senior from Stow-Munroe Falls Schools to continue their education.
