Obituary of Charles Henry Chapman
CUYAHOGA FALLS - Charles Henry Chapman, 97, passed away April 2, 2016.
Born in Akron on May 13, 1918 to Henry G. and Famah Carson Chapman, Charles lived in the area (Akron, Wadsworth, North Canton and Cuyahoga Falls) his entire life. In 1941 he married Ruth Ashbee to whom he was happily married 55 years. Charles spent eight years in the Navy, and served in World War II. He was a self-employed printer and was the owner/operator of Monarch Printing (later called Chapman Printing) until his retirement. He was also a salesman for Transo Envelope Co., Chicago for many years. He traveled to all fifty states and many European countries.
Charles was a longtime member of Margaret Park United Presbyterian Church and attended First Congregational Church of Akron in his later life. He loved family above all else and spent his life looking out for those he loved. Preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth, and his brother Richard, Charles is survived by daughters Linda (Mike) Walz of Defiance, Susan (Bernie) Babb of Stow, and Carol Chapman of Cuyahoga Falls; grandchildren Matt (Nicolay) Walz, Kate Walz (Jeff Naffziger), Peter Walz (Bridgette Burge), Luke (Leslie) Walz, Greg (Dany) Babb, Mark Babb (Janet Mueller) and Eric Babb; thirteen great-grandchildren; sister Lois Cardoni, and ten nieces and nephews. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Special thanks to the staff at Danbury Woods in Cuyahoga Falls, especially the aides and nurses who provided care with such kindness and compassion throughout the last year. The family is so very grateful.
Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Friday, April 8th from 5 to 8 PM, where Rev. Nanette Pitt will conduct service Saturday 10 AM. Burial Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Food Cupboard at First Congregational Church of Akron, 292 E. Market Street, Akron 44308.
