Obituary of Elizabeth L. Peticolas
Elizabeth “Beth” Lockwood Peticolas, 89, formally of Worthington, Ohio passed away on April 10, 2016.
Beth was born in Detroit to Wilbert and Ruth Perkins on March 31, 1927. She graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit in 1945. As a teen she worked for the Hudson Department store until going to Purdue University where she met the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Peticolas who served in the Army Air Corp. She loved being a homemaker and was active in Eastern Star, Worthington Historical Society and PEO. In her 60’s she began painting in watercolor and became quite proficient. She enjoyed painting portraits of her children and grandchildren.
Beth is survived by her daughters, Gail (Ed) Pfeiffer of Stow, Ohio, Barbara (Dale) Kopas of Sewell, New Jersey: and son, John “Bud” (Jan) Peticolas of Broomfield, Colorado; 9 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard; and brother, John Perkins who died in Normandy serving his country.
Friends are invited to St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St., Akron, for visitation Friday, April 15 from 11 AM to 12 Noon followed by Rite of Christian Burial with Rev. Matthew Pfeiffer officiating. Burial at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Worthington, Ohio. Memorial donations may be made to Salvation Army, 1634 Brittain Rd., Akron, Ohio. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Brookdale Senior Living in Stow and Brookdale Hospice.
