Obituary of James P. Wilson

NORTH BENTON – James P. Wilson, 88, went home to be with the Lord on April 13, 2016. Jim was born, raised and lived all of his life in the Akron area. Jim began his military career at age 16 by serving as a US Merchant Marine. He went on to join the U S Marine Corps and was a proud veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Jim was an Ohio State Trooper and then retired as a claims adjuster for Nationwide Insurance. After retirement, he worked with his son at J. Russell Construction, Inc. Jim was preceded in death by his wife Helen in 2004; infant daughter; parents; brother and 2 sisters. He is survived by and will be deeply missed by his son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Julie Wilson; granddaughter and her husband, Stephanie and Todd Kaduke; and grandson, James R. Wilson, Jr. Most of all, Jim enjoyed time with his family. He never missed a golf match or a baseball game. He loved family trips to Vegas, the California coast and wine country, Washington, and Oregon. He enjoyed boating and fishing the waters of the Florida Keys. While in Washington, D.C., he was honored to be chosen to lay a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Papa, you'll be in our hearts forever. Once a Marine, Always a Marine. Semper Fi - Marine. Pastor Ryan Honeycutt and the U.S. Marine Corps will conduct a memorial service on Saturday at 4:30 PM at Redmon Funeral Home. Friends may call from 3 PM until service time. Private interment Rose Hill Burial Park. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church.
