Obituary of Betty L. Bowling
Betty Lou Fields Bowling 84, passed peacefully to rest with the Lord on April 25, 2016 at Summa Akron City Hospital.
Betty was born March 24, 1932 to Tug and Nora Campbell Fields in Hazard, KY, married Jess Bowling in 1946 and raised three children near Akron, OH. Betty retired from Ohio Bell and moved to Palmetto, FL in 1985, after Jess retired from Ford Motor Company, where they resided for 20 years. They were both active members in First Baptist Church of Palmetto. In 2005, after her husband Jess passed, Betty moved to Fernandina Beach, FL to be near her son Mike, and in 2011 moved back to Ohio with her daughter Joan. Betty was very grateful for friends at the Council on Aging and First Presbyterian Church in Fernandina Beach and for her many friends at Mission Baptist Temple in Stow.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents Tug and Nora Fields, husband Jess, son Robert (Bobby), and siblings Herman, Maude, Curt, Alfred, Goldie, Kelly and Ray Lee.
Betty is survived by daughter Joan Lanum, Tallmadge, OH; son Mike (Charlotte) Bowling, Amelia Island, FL; grandchildren Bobby (Stephanie) Bowling, William (Dana) Lanum, Michael (Angie) Lanum, Angie Bowling, Michele Cowgill and Ray Odom; 11 great grandchildren, Taylor, Brandon, Justin, Brittany, Abbigail, Madison, Lily, Izrael, Zurayah, Blake & Maddie; two great-great grandchildren, David and Adelyn; siblings Mabel Reichert, Doris (Clayton) Harmsworth and Donald Edward (Jeanne) Fields; two grand-dogs, Buster and Bella, and so many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 2, 2016 at 1 PM at Redmon Funeral Home in Stow, where friends may call from 11 AMuntil service time. Further services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 PM at Butler County Memorial Park in Hamilton, OH, with visitation from 2 PM until time of service. Rev. Ryan Gilin will officiate at both services. Betty will be buried next to her husband Jess and son Bobby. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in honor of Betty to Mission Baptist Temple/ Mission Fund, 4163 Kent Road, Stow 44224 or to the Council on Aging, 1367 S. 18th Street, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034.
