Obituary
Obituary of Roy O. Dye, Sr.
Roy Oliver Dye Sr. was ushered peacefully into the next life to the hymn “Amazing Grace” sung by his family on May 14, 2016 at the 3 o’clock hour.
Roy was born and raised in the family home built by his father in Portage Lakes, Ohio. He graduated from Coventry High School and started his career as an Electrician by attending a trade school in Chicago. After graduating trade school in 1959, Roy went on to proudly serve his country as a Medic for the US Army. With Roy’s cherished wife, Susan, and two loving sons by his side, nothing pleased him more than spending time with his family, enjoying the outdoors, and working on projects around the house. Roy truly enjoyed his work, both as an Electrician and at home with his sons, teaching everyone around him the importance of hard work and doing things the right way. Roy retired from General Motors after 28 years working as an Electrician. He took great pride and enjoyment in his extended family and their gatherings on the family farm in “the Hills” that he knew and loved. In later years, Roy’s grandchildren and dogs became the object of his doting affection and amusement, along with reading and playing cards with his wife and friends. Roy wove his sense of humor and good nature into a full and beautiful life surrounding us all.
Preceded in death by his infant daughter Kimberly, parents; Twila and Clinton, in laws; Julia and Gus Yogmour Sr, sister-in-law Randi, and brother-in-law Don. Left to cherish the memories are wife, Susan, son Roy Jr (Ann Louise), son Todd (Julianne), Grandchildren; Kaleigh, Roy III, Taylor, Claire, and Annalia.
