Obituary of James T. Brunot

James T. Brunot, 80, of Silver Lake Ohio passed away June 13, 2016. He was born October 28, 1935 in the Mt. Pleasant, PA hospital to the late Charles D. and Mabel F. Brunot. He was a graduate of Greensburg High School, class of 1953. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in the school of Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. As a Professional Engineer, he spent 30 years working for the Ohio Department of Transportation. He obtained the executive position as Director of Bureau of Consultant Services. He also worked for civil engineering consultant firms as a sales engineer. Jim was a member of numerous engineering societies. He was an avid skier, both downhill and cross-country. As a cross-country skier, he medaled in the Chautauqua Overland Marathon. Other interests were tennis, golf, softball, hunting and fishing. Bicycling was his special love as Jim and wife, Barb, were often seen cycling trails around Akron, Ohio. He also enjoyed many GOBA rides with his brothers. Always looking for a new challenge during his retirement, he learned to fly, took up water color painting and learned to read and speak Spanish. He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Barbara Brunot; sons, Gregory Brunot of Delaware, Ohio, Douglas (Eve) Brunot of Akron, Ohio; step-children, Christi Phillip and Todd Allen of Akron, Ohio; two grandchildren, Gwendolyn and Edward Brunot; four step-grandchildren, Lauren, Alex, and Ben Phillip and Hailey Allen; brothers, Lyle E. Brunot, Claude A. (Irene) Brunot and Jay D. (Jean) Brunot. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois F. Brunot. Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Rd., Stow, OH for visitation Friday, June 17 from 1 to 3 pm and 5 to 7 pm. Pastor Brad Jagger will conduct a memorial service Saturday, June 18 at 1 pm at The Church in Silver Lake, 2951 Kent Road, Silver Lake, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
