Obituary of Michael S. Blakemore
Michael S. Blakemore, 64, of Stow, OH, passed away on September 27, 2016 in the comfort of his home.
Michael was born in Cleveland to the late Edward and Lillian Blakemore on November 17, 1951. He attended St. Joseph High School and graduated in 1970. He went on to graduate from Ohio University where he met his much-loved wife, Susan. He spent 25 years employed at Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority using his career to advance equitable housing for the community. Michael loved to travel the world - always documenting the trips with his extraordinary photography skills. He had a passion for music, films, mountain climbing, cars, Cleveland sports, and living life to the fullest. His intellectual and adventurous personality will be missed by all that were fortunate to be in his life.
Michael is survived by his wife of 37 years, Susan; daughters, Katherine (Joe Smeltzer) and Hilary; sisters, Sandy Bradbury (Bob Brodbeck) and Sally (Steve) Massien; many nephews, nieces, in-laws, special family members, life-long friends and beloved dog, Orwell.
Family and friends are invited to Brushwood Lodge at Furnace Run Metro Park (4955 Townsend Road, Richfield 44268), where a Memorial will be held on November 19, 2016 at 10 AM with Service at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael's memory to the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park at www.forcvnp.org/blakemore. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of the wonderful individuals who have helped support Michael during his battle with cancer.
