Obituary of Donald Richard Brown
Donald Richard Brown, formerly of Ashtabula, peacefully surrendered to Alzheimer’s on October 14, 2016 with his family by his side. Don was born March 13, 1926 in Ashtabula, Ohio to Desta and William Brown, and was a graduate of Ashtabula High School and Fenn College (Cleveland State). He served his country in the Navy from 1944 to 1946 and retired in 1978 from Jones and Laughlin Steel as Superintendent of the Union Dock.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Mary (Dempsey), sister Norine (Welch) and brothers Harold “Bud” and Bill Brown. He is survived by his wife Barb, daughters Cathy Brown, Peggy (Dave) Arnold, Patty (Carl) Bujorian, step-children Jack, Jim and Jerry Ogren, Linda Silvers and Marilyn Stoltz and several nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Per his wishes, there will be no calling hours. Cremation has taken place and there will be a graveside service held at a later date in Ashtabula. The family is very grateful for the compassionate staff of Danbury Woods, who provided Dad with the loving care he deserved and helped him every day to live his life with dignity.
