Obituary of Charlotte Arvella Patterson
Arvella Patterson, born June 22, 1941 to Blanche and Denver Collins, lived most of her life in Stow. She participated in many activities throughout her schools years including marching band, girl scouts, debate and the Grange in Hudson where she met her future husband Wesley James Broadhurst. Together they went on to attend The Ohio State University.
From this point her life was a testimony to the goodness of God in the midst of great trials. Her dreams were crushed when she was widowed at age 27 with 5 young children. Through her grief she sacrificed self to put the needs of her young ones first. She truly loved those young ones and mothered them to the best of her ability.
God continued to bless this family as she met and married Richard W. Patterson, who preceded her in death in December 1998.
She is survived by Arvella Johnson (Rod), Dana Klug (Tim), Susan Lawrence, Ruthann Paulus-Bland (Mark) and Robert Broadhurst (Dana). She is also survived by 25 grandchildren: Hannah (Wayne), Travis, Tim (Kylie), Leah (Nate), Abby, Caleb, Colleen, Denae, Ravonne, Rashun, Connor, Alex, Delaney, Dariuss, Destinee, Nakia, Stephen, James, Adam, Seth, Noah, Lael, Brendon, Crystal, and Katelyn, She is also survived by two great grandchildren: Felicity and Robert.
Other than spending time with the above mentioned people some of her other favorite things included NASCAR, OSU football, Southern Gospel music and class reunions.
God’s blessings continued through the end of her life when she was taken suddenly on October 16, 2016 into the loving arms of her Lord.
Private services at Redmon Funeral Home and burial at Stow Cemetery were held. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Pregnancy Help Center, 4845 Market St. Boardman OH 44512.
