Obituary of Carl G. Hood, Jr.

Carl G. Hood, Jr., 65, went home to be with the Lord on December 5, 2016. Born in Akron, he graduated from Highland High School and went to work for a local manufacturing company called Gasko Fabricated Products. He worked there his whole career; 43 years, making all kinds of gaskets and seals for the automobile industry. He was a faithful and dedicated worker, always arriving a half hour before work started to open the shop, make the coffee and get things going. Gasko is still in business today along Ridge Road in Medina. After Carl retired from Gasko, he found a nice little trailer park in the valley, Indian Springs, and settled there to live out his retirement. He was still getting up early, but he was enjoying sitting on his deck, drinking his cup of coffee and reading the newspaper. He loved to decorate his place with lights and ornaments for every holiday time of the year, especially Christmas. He was very caring, loving and considerate of others. He had a gentle spirit and enjoyed laughing and having a good time with whomever he was with. He loved to spend time with his family and friends, he will be missed very much at our family gatherings. He is survived by his mother Miriam; brother Tim (Karin)Hood of Fremont, CA, and sister Susan (David) Anderson of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; nieces and nephews Emily(Patrick) Allen, Abby Elliot, Rachelle (Will) Hodge, Jonathan (Sarah)Anderson and Ryan Anderson, and great-nieces and nephews Olive Allen, Nora Hodge, Maggie Hodge and Jonah Anderson. He is preceded in death by his Father: Carl Hood Sr.; two brothers: Alan Douglas Hood and Curtis Steven Hood. Friends are invited to come visit with the family on Monday night Dec. 12 at the Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, OH from 5 till 7 pm. Pastor Matthew Skifstad of Victory Life Church will conduct a funeral service following the viewing hours at the Funeral Home. There will be a private interment Tuesday at Rose Hill Burial Park.
