Obituary of James A. Thiese
Jim Thiese, age 85, passed away on February 3, 2017.
Jim was born on October 18, 1931 to the late Wilford and Wynona Thiese in Flint, Michigan. Jim retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. in 1990 after 35 years of dedicated service. He retired as a director at Firestone and had previously been the head of the Racing Division. Jim was a proud member of Bethany Lutheran Church, was a volunteer at Akron Childrens Hospital and had served on several boards at St. Luke's Nursing Home in North Canton and Lutheran Urban Ministry of Akron.
Preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Jacquelyn (Jackie) Thiese, his parents, son-in-law, Richard Cole and brother-in-law, Kelsoe Schadle. He is survived by his loving children, Wendy Cole and Mark (Margaret) Thiese, grandchildren, Chris (Linda), Alex and Tyler Cole, Annie, Brian (Suzanna), and Paul Thiese. Jim was a wonderful father and grandfather. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters-in-law: Alan (Sandy) Thiese, David Thiese, Kurt (Judy) Thiese, Diane Schadle and brother-in-law Robert Jancius.
Calling hours will be 6 to 9 PM on Monday, February 6th at Redmon Funeral Home. Funeral will be held at 1:30pm on Tuesday, February 7th at the Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park in Cuyahoga Falls.
The family would like to thank the staff of Stow-Glen Nursing Center and Great Lakes Hospice for the loving care provided to Jim. Memorials may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, 833 Carroll Street, Akron, Ohio 44305
