Obituary of Lynn E. Schrier
It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of our husband, father and friend, Lynn E Schrier on February 14, 2017. Lynn was born in Seymour, Indiana on March 8th 1928 to the late Edna Brown and Victor Schrier. He attended elementary and high school in Seymour, graduating in 1946. He received a Naval ROTC scholarship and enrolled at Purdue University and graduated in 1950 with degrees of a BS in Chemical Engineering and a BS in Naval Science and Tactics. Lynn was commissioned in 1950 and reported for active duty aboard the USS Leyte in Korea. He was later transferred to the staff of the Supreme Allied Commander Atlantic at NATO Command where he was assigned as Administrative Officer for Logistics.
He married Cynthia Sargeant in June of 1951 and over the years, they had four children. He was discharged from active duty and accepted employment with Goodyear Atomic Company in 1953. He was later transferred to Goodyear Aerospace in Akron as a Senior Engineer and participated in many government contracts for various weapons and flight simulators. He became an employee of Loral Corporation in 1987 and retired in 1990 as a VP of Program Management. Continued education was important to Lynn and he earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Akron School of Law in 1976. He was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1976.
He was active over the years in many community and church activities including serving on the building committee of the current sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
Lynn is survived by his wife of 65 years Cynthia, son John (Debbie), daughter Barbara (Steven), son Daniel (Susan) and daughter Sara (Marshall). He is also survived by grandchildren Anthony (Patricia), Bradley, Jeff, Brian, Kate (Brian), Keeley, Ian, Jason (Christine), Jonathan (Jeannett) and Stacy (Adam)and six great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 10 AM on Wednesday, February 22, with the service following at 11 AM, at the First United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Interment will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the gift and memorial fund at the United Methodist Church.
