Obituary of Roy R. Divis

Roy R. Divis, 88, passed away March 6, 2017. He was born July 23, 1928 in Berwyn, IL. Roy was a member of Holy Family Parish in Stow, Ohio, where he was an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, a member of the Caregivers Group, and participated in Holy Family's monthly food drive for Good Neighbors. He was awarded a B.S. degree by St. Mary's University (MN) and an M.S. degree by the University of Detroit, both in chemistry. He worked for 46 years in plastics product and process development. After retirement, he reactivated a boyhood interest in building and flying rubber-powered model airplanes. As a member of the Cleveland Free Flight Society Chapter of the Flying Aces Club, he participated in local and national contests. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Adelaide, and his wife Mildred. He is survived by brother Jerry, sons Michael and David, daughters Lynne and Sharon, daughters-in-law Mary and Sandy, granddaughter Katie, great-grandson Michael, and great-granddaughters Sara, Alliana, and Evelyn. Calling hours will be Friday 6-8 pm at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday 10 am at Holy Family Church, 3179 Kent Road, Stow. Interment will follow Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery, Akron. In lieu of flowers, donations to Holy Family Parish would be appreciated.
