Obituary of Gail Ann Porosky
May 5, 1955 – March 31, 2017
Gail passed away suddenly Friday, March 31, 2017.
She is survived by her husband of thirty years, Eric J. Porosky; and her children, Parker J. Porosky, Sara Elizabeth Porosky, Nicholas Yocca and Anna Yocca. She is also survived by her in-laws, Paul and Delores Porosky; and her sister, Marcia Streussand Newman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mae and Sam Streussand.
She found a great deal of satisfaction in helping and serving others. Gail worked as an Assistant with the Summit County Developmental Disabilities Board for ten years, most recently at the Tallmadge Center. She had a deep admiration for those served at SCDDB. Prior to Gail joining SCDDB, she was a substitute teacher in the Stow and Kent City Schools which she enjoyed immensely.
Gail valued a good education. She attended Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati and graduated in 1973. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture from The Ohio State University in 1977 where she became an avid Buckeye Football fan. Gail loved her basketball as well. She and her husband, Eric rarely missed a Buckeye Football game or an opportunity to watch Lebron James play throughout his career. She inherited her love of basketball from her mother, Mae, who was an avid Cincinnati Royals fan, which Gail spoke of often.
Gail was never at a loss for words or an opinion and she was a fierce guardian of her family. She absolutely loved shopping and the adventure of hunting for a bargain. Gail never met a cat or dog she did not like, nor one that she would not feed and spoil. Her dogs, Annie, Spike and Isabella, unequivocally brought her delight and joy as did the menagerie of feral cats that always found a meal at her back door.
She was a tiny woman with a big heart. She will be missed profoundly and remembered affectionately by those who love her.
A private graveside service will be held in her honor with her immediate family in attendance. Memorial donations may be made lieu of flowers - http://www.humanesociety.org/donate/
