Obituary of Belva Olive Burris
CUYAHOGA FALLS – Belva O. Burris, 94, died May 12, 2017.
Born in Orlando, WV on December 18, 1922, she was a Cuyahoga Falls resident for many years, a longtime member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and had served her country as “Rosie the Riveter” during World War II. Belva worked in her earlier years at Diamond Match Co. in Barberton and retired from Akron City Hospital in 1982.
She is survived by her son Gary (Ann) Hagen; grandchildren Lynn, Kelly (Todd) and Laura; great-grandchildren Sophia and Gabriel; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph in March of this year, her parents Hoy and Nora Skinner, her brother Ronald, her sisters Alma, Myrna, Mable, Freda and Gladys (the “Skinner Sisters”), and by her son Gary’s father, Orven Hagen.
Belva’s family would like to thank Rich and Hanna and the entire staff of The Cottages in The Gardens of Western Reserve (Cuyahoga Falls) for their care and attention over these many years.
Pastor Jim Case will conduct service Wednesday 8 PM at Redmon Funeral Home, where friends may call from 6 PM until service time. Private burial Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
