Obituary of David A. Witner
David Arthur Witner went to be with the Lord on May 14, 2017 at 2:05 PM, after complications with Parkinson’s Disease.
Dave was born in Akron, Ohio, on February 26, 1947, and was a resident of Stow, Ohio, all his life. Dave graduated from Stow High School in 1965. He served four years in the Army from 1966-1970. Dave retired from Ohio Bell after 30 years. After retiring from Bell, Dave and his wife Kathy, lived in Florida for seven years where they both enjoyed working at Walt Disney World. They returned to Stow in March of 2014 after Kathy was diagnosed with terminal bone cancer. Dave was a faithful servant of his Lord all his life at the First Christian Church in Stow.
Dave was a Fixed wing aircraft pilot with Commercial rating. He was also a Hot Air Balloon pilot, flying his own Balloon, The Autumn Breeze.
Dave was known by most everyone as the guy that could fix almost anything. It was not uncommon to see Dave on a cold and snowy winter day blowing not only his driveway but those of neighbors.
Dave was preceded in death by his Father, George Albert Witner, and his mother, Mildred Harruff Witner, his older brother, Donald Perry Witner, and his wife, Kathleen Cotter Witner. Dave is survived by his son, Scott David Witner (Michelle), two granddaughters, Samantha and Mikayla, and sister Linda Witner Gidley (Edward).
A memorial service will be held Friday, May 19, at 12:00 noon at the Redmon Funeral Home, Stow, Ohio. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 12:00 noon immediately before the memorial service.
