Obituary of Robert L. Scarpitti
STOW – Robert L. Scarpitti, 83, passed away peacefully May 17, 2017.
Born in Akron, Robert was a resident of Stow for over 50 Years. Robert proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy earning the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and United Nations Service Medal. Robert retired from CSX Railroad with 41 years of service. Robert enjoyed horse racing for many years, but his lifetime passion was his family and being a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Preceded in death by his parents, Dominic and Lucille; he is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Carol; children, Robert (Susie), Richard (Carmie), Daniel (Jennie) and Lu Ann (Robert) Unrue; grandchildren, Angela, Amber, Anthony, Hannah, Dominic, Kayleigh, Jadelynn, Melinda, Ashlee, Robert; five great-grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church, 3179 Kent Road, Stow on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 10 AM with Father Mike Ausperk as celebrant. The family will receive friends from 9 AM until service time. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association, Great Rivers Affiliate, P.O. Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693.
