Obituary of Shirley Estes

Shirley W. Estes, 84, died June 15, 2017.

Born in Akron, she retired as a manager from Ohio Bell (AT&T) after 40 years of service and was a longtime member of The Chapel.  Shirley had been a Sunday school teacher for over 50 years, and was active at The Haven of Rest, where she had formerly served on the Board of Trustees.

Preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Estes, in May of this year, parents Troy and Nellie (Getz) Wheeler, and brother David, she is survived by her sister Patricia (Ralph) Denholm, nieces, nephews and many relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held in the Memorial Chapel at The Chapel, 135 Fir Hill, Akron, Ohio 44304 on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11 AM, where friends may call from 10 AM until service time.  Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Haven of Rest, 175 East Market Street, Akron, OH 44308.
