Obituary of Kathryn L. Kehl
Kathryn Lucy Kehl (née Grywalski) passed away August 28, 2017, with her loving daughter, Joyce, by her side.
Kathryn was born on March 30, 1933, in Noble County, Ohio, to George and Sophie (Liptak) Grywalski, the eighth of nine children.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Edsel; her parents; her sister, Helen; her brothers Frank, John, George, Edward, Joseph, and Walter; and her beloved cat Taffy, who lived to the ripe old age of 20.
Survivors include her daughter, Joyce, of New York; in-laws Clara, Norma, Geneva, Darlene, and LaVerne; one brother, Stanley; many nieces and nephews; and friends and neighbors.
Kathryn loved spending time in her yard, tending her flowers and tomatoes, raking leaves, hanging laundry, shoveling snow, and performing any task associated with her little home. She turned ironing into an art form. She adored eating good food at home and in restaurants, visiting farmers markets, and listening to polkas. As a young woman, she worked making picture frames.
Travels took her to the Bahamas; the Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia; Nashville; the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island; Stowe, Vermont; the Berkshires; and New York City to visit her daughter. She had especially vivid and fond memories of a trip to Yellowstone National Park with her daughter in 2005.
She was empathetic and kindhearted and had a soft spot for animals (no stray cat left her yard hungry) and children. She babysat and nurtured many youngsters over the years and was a loving and special fairy grandmother to Trever, Erin, and Jennifer.
Kathryn will be missed desperately by her daughter and her many friends and family.
Visitation followed by service from 11 AM to 1 PM on Thursday, August 31, at Redmon Funeral Home in Stow.
