Obituary of Nanette L. Alexander
SILVER LAKE - Nanette L. Alexander, 84, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on September 16, 2017.
After graduating from Akron North High School in 1951, Nan proudly worked for the U.S. Air Force in a civilian role. She then held her most cherished role as a loving and devoted wife to Al and mother to her three sons. This extended to her grandkids and great-grandkids as they brought her so much joy, and in turn, her kindness and unbridled pride and love to all of them. Her cats, Cookie and Crumbs, never left her side and brought a daily smile to her and those around her. Nan enjoyed traveling with Al, family and friends, and was very creative with her passions for painting, music, collecting antiques, and playing tennis. Her many hours of volunteering for various school and civic activities were helpful and appreciated by so many. Nan's sense of humor, (sometimes a little sassy!), was always fun to be around!
The family would like to thank Mulberry Gardens and Ohio Living Hospice for their caring, friendship and love for our mom. Preceded in death by Alex, her husband of 59 years, her parents Vincent and Carolyn Quigley, and sister Charlene Wert. She is survived by her sister Linda Curtis; sons Douglas, David (Kathy) and Donald (Gina) Alexander; grandchildren Kara (Mitchell), Kyle, Kevin, Abigail (Sean), Rebekah (Jeff), Olivia, Melina and Ava; great-grandchildren Bryn and Berkley, many nieces and nephews and special friend, Beth Ann.
A service will be held Monday at Redmon Funeral Home at 7 PM, where family and friends may call from 4 PM until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Akron, 7996 Darrow Road, Twinsburg, OH 44087.
