Obituary of Wilton F. Webber
Wilton F. Webber was born March 1, 1928 (actually leap-year day) along with his twin brother, William, to Art and Eula (Monroe) Webber of Leeds, Alabama.
Wilton graduated from Munford High School where he played baseball and composed the class alma mater. He served in the Air Force quartermaster’s corps, stateside, during the Korean Conflict. After his service, he worked for 32 years at the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft division of United Technologies, in East Hartford, Connecticut, building jet engines.
He was married for 21 years to the late Elizabeth (Shestak). Upon retirement, he moved to be near family, first to South Carolina, and later back to Alabama. In recent years, he joined his daughter’s family in Ohio. An avid gardener, Wilton raised everything from lima beans to loofahs, but he especially loved cultivating tomatoes. He enjoyed playing the harmonica along to bluegrass music.
He leaves his daugter, Sue Ellen Turscak; his son-in-law, Andrew Turscak; two grandchildren, Andrew and Marilee; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held Monday, September 18, 2017 at 11 AM at Pine Hill Memorial Park.
