Obituary of Malcolm S. Vanaman

Malcolm S. Vanaman, 76, died October 5, 2017.

Born in Akron, he was a lifetime resident of the Northampton community. He was employed by Firestone Tire and Rubber Company from 1959 to 1970. After retiring from Firestone, he ventured out on his own to start what is known today as Northfield Tire Incorporated. With his hard work and dedication, he grew a two bay garage into a successful twenty-two bay full service center. Mac enjoyed leisure time with friends and family. He was an avid bowler in his younger years and enjoyed golf as a member of Firestone Country Club, Ohio and Heron Creek Country Club, Florida. He had numerous friends that will miss his enormous hand shake and quick wit. He was very proud of his family and will be deeply missed at traditional Sunday dinners.

Preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Jackie, brother-in-law George and sister-in-law Jennifer Vanaman, he is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janet; daughters Sherry (Marty) Dreier, Kelly (Charlie) Schrack; son Raymond (Susie) Vanaman; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters Darlene Leipold, Joetta (Jim) Schaffer; brothers Wayne (Nancy) and Richard Vanaman, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Tuesday 5 to 8 PM, where service will be held Wednesday 6 PM. Private interment Northlawn Memorial Gardens. The family requests no flowers, but for those desiring, memorials may be made to Haven of Rest Ministries in Akron.
