Kevin Keener

Obituary of Kevin Ray Keener

Kevin Ray Keener, 56, of Rootstown, died unexpectedly on October 31, 2017.  He will be remembered as a loving and giving man who was accomplished in his field of welding/fabricating and was a patient teacher to budding blacksmiths and scuba divers.  He was employed by Quick Service Welding of Kent, Ohio.  Kevin was born in Akron, Ohio to Dana and Jaqeline Keener and was a 1980 graduate of Stow High School.

Kevin is preceded in death by his father Dana R. Keener and is survived by his wife, Lois Weaver Keener, his mother, Jacqeline Keener, sisters, Carrie Mortinger, Kim Grams (husband Jim), Kelly Keener, and nephew, Jason Grams (wife Briana).

Calling hours will be Sunday, Nov. 5th from 3-5:00 PM at Redmon Funeral Home in Stow, Ohio.  A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM with Reverend Larry Keener officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of Summit County.

Kevin was a man of many talents and interests. Much of his time has been spent working with his father to renovate and add on to his Greek Revival century home in a historically appropriate manner.  He enjoyed bicycling, motorcycle riding, camping, photography, and scuba diving.  He was a patient teacher to budding blacksmiths at the Western Reserve Artist Blacksmith Association of Burton and scuba divers of the JRF School of Scuba in Rootstown.  He will be greatly missed by family and friends who got to experience his ability to listen and make everyone feel heard, his great sense of humor and his ability to combine hard work, skill and creativity to problem solving of all kinds.
