Obituary of Rhea H. Bowen
RHEA D. HOBART-BOWEN of Hudson, Ohio, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017 at the age of 102, after a short illness.
She is predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Glenn E. Bowen, and an infant daughter. Surviving family include daughter, Connie Wilson (John) of Stow; son, Gregg H. Bowen (Theresa) of Glenwillow; grandchildren, Shannon Marko (Scott), Erin Lentz (Rob), Gregg D. Bowen, Daniel Bowen, Sarah Wilson Beasley (Steven); and great-grandchildren, Brayden Marko, Payten Marko, Sevan Beasley and Jacob Beasley.
Rhea grew up in Lakewood, New York, and married Glenn at the end of WW II. She enjoyed her work as a teacher for nearly 30 years in New York and Ohio. Glenn and Rhea were long-time residents of Garfield Hts., Ohio, where she taught for many years at William Foster Elementary School before her retirement. She loved music and her work in the church. In 1991, they moved to Hudson, Ohio where they were members of the First Congregational Church and enjoyed many years together at Laurel Lake. Rhea enjoyed knitting & crocheting, making music, her volunteer work in the community, and many enduring friendships.
Cremation has taken place. Friends may call at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, (Rt. 91) in Stow, Ohio on Sunday, November 26, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. A memorial service will also be held at the Laurel Lake Retirement Community. In lieu of flowers, we encourage donations to benefit the U.S. military veteran organization of your choice.
