Obituary of Bonnie L. Zurbuch

STOW- Bonnie L. Zurbuch, 74, died December 8, 2017. Born in Pittsburgh, she was a member of Job's Daughters International, was Valedictorian of her high school class at Willowbrook High School (Villa Park, IL) and was Salutatorian of her class at The College of Wooster, where she also belonged to Phi Beta Kappa. A Stow resident over 45 years, Bonnie retired as a Latin teacher from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 2006, and had recently been teaching as an adjunct professor in the Classics Department at Kent State University. Latin being taught to high school students was a passion of hers, and she was constantly working to see that maintained. An avid traveler, she made almost annual trips to Italy, a favorite destination. She was a loyal follower of all Cleveland sports teams and the Ohio State University, but most importantly, Bonnie was a devoted grandmother, attending nearly all of her grandchildren's school and sporting events. Preceded in death by her parents James Ira and Emma Louise Slagle, and grandson Logan Ruehr, she is survived by her daughter Mary Louise (Kurt) Ruehr of Aurora; son James Francis (Kristen) Zurbuch of Canton; grandchildren Jared, Kyle, Ashley and Nate Ruehr, Jimmy and Josh Zurbuch, and brother James Howard (Marilyn) Slagle of AZ. Her memory will be cherished by her nieces and nephews, Jon, Valerie, Jennifer, Bryan, and Meredith, along with many other close relatives and friends. Services will be held Thursday 7 PM at Redmon Funeral Home, where friends may call from 5 PM until service time. Private burial at Silver Springs Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Dr. Gary B. and Pamela Williams Breast Center, care of Summa Health Foundation, 525 E. Market Street, Akron 44304.
