Obituary of Katherine Eleanor Dietemann
Katherine Eleanore Dietemann (Applegate), aged 103, answered the Lord's call to come home on December 17, 2017. Her work here on Earth was complete. She was born June 11, 1914, in Hopkins, Missouri to the late Thomas and Helen Gregory Applegate. Eleanore was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Dietemann, on July 15, 2015.
Eleanore and John lived a rich life, full of God's blessings. Through John's service with the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy, and the Public Health Service, they lived and worked on the Fort Apache Reservation in White River, Arizona; and they lived in Sioux City, Iowa and in Aberdeen, South Dakota. From Aberdeen, John was then assigned to Anchorage, Alaska, where Eleanore played an active role in the Northern Alaska Area Board of Women's Aglow Fellowship. John's last assignment before retiring to Daytona Beach, Florida placed then in Silver Springs, Maryland, where Eleanore began president of the Silver Women's Aglow Fellowship. While in Silver Springs, she conducted seminars and retreats and found time to write a book, "What is a Virtuous Woman?". This book opened avenues to Eleanore of bible studies, retreats, and radio and television appearances.
Eleanore leaves behind to cherish her memory her son Monte, his wife, Jan, two grandchildren, Kathleen Podmore and Monte R. Jr., and five great-grandsons.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of The Gables of Hudson and the staff of Clear Path Hospice Care for the loving care they provided to Eleanore.
