Obituary of Vincent James DeFilippo
Vincent James DeFilippo, a Stow resident, went to be with his heavenly Father on January 12, 2018.
Born on April 9th, 1929 in Queens NY, Vincent J. DeFilippo died peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 88.
Vincent was preceded in death by his father, Antonio DeFilippo and mother Antoinette DeFilippo. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marie Victoria DeFilippo; children, Denise Cohen, AnnMarie Rigby (Charlie), Arlene Schaible (Marc), Vincent DeFilippo (Ginger); eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy and Irene; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Vincent spent 27 years creating legendary dolls for the Ideal Toy Company as Master Sculptor. Ten years after Vincent relocated to Ohio from New York in 1981, he launched his own porcelain doll collectible line that was seen for several years on Home Shopping Network and QVC selling to over 30,000 collectors. Vincent's artistic ability was not only limited to doll making. He masterfully sculpted fine religious works of art, including wood carvings and paintings. A member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Vincent was committed to his family and dedicated to his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Vincent served our country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged.
Vincent is loved by so many, his influence will forever remain in the lives and hearts of all who were blessed.
A celebration of life service will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 55 Atterbury Blvd., Hudson 44236, on Saturday, January 20th at 12 noon. Friends may call at the church from 10 AM until service time. Entombment will follow at Crown Hill Burial Park with military honors provided by the United States Army. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Trinity Anglican Church.
