Obituary of Paul Eugene Gatian
STOW - Paul E. Gatian, 82, died March 11, 2018.
Born May 8, 1935 in Morgantown, WV, he was a U.S. Army veteran and had retired from General Motors after 33 years of service. Paul was a lifelong member of American Legion Kent Post #496 and enjoyed gardening, travel and spending time with his family.
Preceded in death by his brother, Robert M. Gatian, II and son-in-law, Mark Pittinger, he is survived by his wife of 58 years, Phyllis Gatian; daughters, Penny Pittinger of Cuyahoga Falls, and Kathi (George) Trares of Shalersville; sons, Daniel (Tana Gleespen) Gatian, Sr. of Portage Lakes, and Douglas (Gina) Gatian of Cuyahoga Falls; grandchildren, Katie Pittinger, Caryn (Patrick) Martin, Wendy (Ralph) Harner, Fr. James Peter Trares, O.P., Jeffrey Trares, D.J. Gatian, Dylan Gatian, and Sarah Gatian; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Harner, Liam Harner, Rosalie Martin and Amelia Martin; sister, Rosemary (John) Berdy and sister-in-law Carole Gatian.
Paul’s grandson, Fr. James Peter Trares, O.P. will conduct a memorial service Monday, March 19 at 5 PM at Redmon Funeral Home, where friends may call from 2 PM until service time. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Visiting Nurse Service Hospice, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron, OH 44333.
