Obituary of Josephine M. Kramer

Josephine M. Kramer, 100, died April 10, 2018. Born in Central City, PA, she has lived in Stow since 1950. Her parents, Mary and Joseph Labuda, had immigrated from Poland in their teens.

In 1932, Josephine and her younger sister, Mamie, traveled to Brooklyn and found work as housekeepers and she became one of the "Rosie the Riveters" during WWII.  During the war, she wrote to George Kramer, who was also from Central City, PA, and was stationed in Burma in Southeast Asia.  After the war, they married in 1946 and went to work in Akron's rubber industry.  She enjoyed bowling, gardening, baking and crafts, crocheting, ceramics, cake decorating and floral arranging.  Josephine credits her long life to God, family and hard work.

Preceding her in death is her husband, George in 1969; parents Mary and Joseph; brothers Ray, Joe, John, Leo; sisters Agnes, Marie, Stella, Ann, and Pat. She is survived by her son, George, many great caregivers, nieces and nephews, and wonderful neighbors and friends.

A private memorial service was held at the Redmon Funeral Home. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Haven of Rest or Salvation Army.
