Obituary of Jimmie Dale Stoffer

TALLMADGE - Jimmie Dale Stoffer died May 4, 2018 at The Hospice Care Center.

Born November 11, 1926, he was the son of the late Russell D. and Addie Jane Stoffer of Akron. One of five children, he was a graduate of Central High School and lived his entire life in Akron.  He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1945 and the U.S. Army from 1950-1957, receiving honorable discharges from both.   For most of his working career, Jim was employed by the Chevron Oil Company. Earlier in his life, he worked for Goodyear Aircraft in Akron, installing landing gear.   Jim enjoyed playing golf and, while a younger man, playing baseball and cards with the local firefighters. He seldom missed a Cleveland Indians game.  

He is survived by a sister, Mary Hansford Green of Quincy, PA, along with five nieces and three nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters Viola Hansford Dixon of Akron and Lois Stoffer Willis of Albuquerque, New Mexico, brother Richard D. Hansford of Akron and nephew Lawrence D. Hansford of Akron.  

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 11 AM to 12 Noon at the First Christian Church, 3493 Darrow Rd., Stow 44224, followed by a memorial service with Rev. Jonathan Rumburg officiating. Interment at a later date.
