Obituary of Roxy Quatraro

Roxy Quatraro, 90, of Stow, Ohio, passed away peacefully in the company of family on Saturday, May 19, 2018.

Roxy was born Nov. 30, 1927, in Akron to Joe and Angelina Quatraro. He was a proud graduate of North High School in 1945 and University of Akron in 1950, where he served as president of Lambda Chi Alpha, and was a U.S. Army veteran.

As sole proprietor of the R. Quatraro & Co. construction firm and also in partnership with Joseph D'Amico, Roxy built residential and commercial properties throughout the area.

He was a 60-year Stow resident and a 60-year member of Holy Family Church. Roxy was a former Stow Lion, Stow's representative to the Summit County Board of Health and, in the 1960s and 1970s, served as a CYO basketball coach. He loved a good book, golf with the T.I.G.S. and his seat at the poker club table.

Roxy lived his life by The Golden Rule, and was very devoted to his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Lela (Stevens); their children, Jeff (Christa) of Oregon, James (Ann) of Stow, Paul (Kay) of Arizona, and Angel (Joe Taggart Sr.) of Kent; grandchildren, Matthew, Michelle (Nathan Houston), Allison (Gary) Williams, Joe, Sam Langstaff, Ben Langstaff, Nicole, Gino, Joe Taggart Jr. and David Taggart; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Parker Williams, and Lenna Houston; brother, Frank Quatraro of Akron, and sisters-in-law, Natalie Quatraro and Colleen Hoch. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Anthony, and sisters-in-law, Ginny Quatraro and Peggy Moffitt.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Redmon Funeral Home in Stow. A mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Stow, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
