Obituary of Dolores Joan Epling
Dolores Joan Epling, 83, at comfort with the Lord in Heaven. Joan peacefully succumbed to her disease of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center in Fairlawn, Ohio. She was born in Akron, Ohio on November 27, 1934.
Preceded in death by her parents Ira Hugh Epling and Marie Louise (Myers) Epling, sister Jean Moore and son Jason Hugh Criner, Joan is survived by her daughter Katrina (Jonny) Whited; grandchildren Colton Whited, Jade Whited, Marshall Whited and Billy Joe Criner; brother-in-law John Moore and dear friend Carole Elderidge.
Joan was an entrepreneur at heart, born out of necessity. She owned several businesses over her lifetime. Never afraid of hard work, she took care of many developmentally disabled children over the years, in her home. She worked until her diagnosis last summer. Joan was a caretaker who helped many people over her lifetime. She was the type of mother that told you what to do and you better have it done in the time frame she gave! If you didn't like the rules in her house, she was known to say, "Then skip on home!"
Joan was a faithful member of Mission Baptist Temple in Stow. The family would like to thank all the members and Pastor for their support, visits and many prayers during her final months. Special thanks and acknowledgement to Donna Frye for all the help you gave last summer.
Cremation has taken place at her request. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Wednesday evening, July 11, at 6:30 PM at Mission Baptist Temple, 4163 Kent Road, Stow, OH 44224. Telephone: 330-688-0901
