Obituary of Kenneth J. Shuman
Kenneth J. "Ken" Shuman, 95, died July 2, 2018.
Born in Akron, he was a Stow resident since 1940, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, and retired owner of K.J. Shuman Plumbing and Heating. A member of the Cuyahoga Falls United Presbyterian Church, he had been an elder and Sunday school teacher for many years. Ken was a charter member and past-president of Stow Kiwanis, where he was instrumental in founding the Stow 4th of July Parade and served as its Grand Marshal in 2005. He also served on the City of Stow Charter Commission, on the founding board of Hope Homes in Stow, and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity.
Preceded in death by his wife Jeanne, son John and brothers Bud, Ted and Dave, he is survived by his daughter Jill (Ron) France; grandchildren Ken (Nancy), Ed (Rachel) and Ben Marquette, Rebecca (David) Blackwood and Adam (Cecilia) Marquette; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters Ramona Smith, Nancy Hickam and sister-in-law Arleen Shuman.
Rev. Carolyn Griffeth will conduct service Monday 11 AM at Cuyahoga Falls United Presbyterian Church, 2819 Hudson Drive, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221, where friends may call from 10 AM until service time. Burial Stow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bulldog Bags, P.O. Box 1475, Stow, OH 44224 or to the Cuyahoga Falls United Presbyterian Church Food Pantry.
