Obituary of Richard J. Bauer
Richard J. Bauer, 93, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 14, 2018.
A native of Akron, he graduated from Western Reserve Academy in 1943, and the University of Akron in 1950, where he lettered in basketball and golf. Richard served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946 in Panama and the Galapagos Islands. He was the CEO of Bauer Enterprises in Stow for 35 years. Richard was an elder of his church, Stow Alliance Fellowship, was instrumental in starting the Stow Home Bible Study Seminar, and held a bible study for men at Silver Lake Country Club for over 35 years. He loved golf, gardening, building and hunting, and was a 32nd degree Mason.
Preceded in death by his mother Thelma, father Christy, brothers Jack and Jim, and son Jon Richard “Rick ”, he is survived by his wife of 62 years Gwen (Hilbish); daughters Lynn (Kent) Mosher, Lisa (Jeff) Johnson; daughter-in-law Tena; grandchildren Jon Bauer, Stephanie (Johnson) Smith, Stacie Johnson, Kellan Mosher, Derek Mosher, Clayton Mosher, and great grandchild, Brynlee. We rejoice at his homegoing!
Pastor John Wilson will conduct service Saturday 11:30 AM at Stow Alliance Fellowship, 4460 Stow Road, 44224. Friends may call from 10 AM until service time. Private burial with military honors at Rose Hill Burial Park.
