Obituary of Nicholas Wahna

Nicholas Wahna, 95, of Stow, Ohio passed away on August 14th at home.

Nick was born in Colver, PA on October 29, 1922.  He served in World War II in England during the blitz. In 1960, Nick left the coal mines, moving his family to Stow to work at the General Motors Terex plant.  Anyone that knew him, knew he was kind and loving, and we were all fortunate to have such a man skilled in so many trades.  Nick could do everything from re-building a car to constructing a home and he was always happy to share his knowledge. A devoted member of the Church for over 57 years, he served on the board, belonged to the RBO,  and loved helping at the many workshops and events throughout the years.

Nick is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Ann; three daughters, Annette (Jim) Boncek, Janet Michalec (Robert) and Valerie Wahna (Nicole); brother, Peter (Inez) Wahna; sister, Helen Ball; three grandchildren, Leslie (David) McClinsey, Elaine (Yost) Goossens and Nicholas (Cheryl) Boncek; Eight great-grandchildren, Nadia, Gavin and Joshua McClinsey; John Peter and Anna Goossens; and Isabella, Madeline and Luke Boncek.

He was preceeded in death by parents, five siblings and grandson, Andrew Boncek.

Friends are invited to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 755 S. Cleveland Avenue, Mogadore 44260, on Saturday, August 18 for visitation from 10 to 11 AM, where funeral service will be held at 11 AM. V. Reverend Nicholas Wyslutsky officiating. Burial will follow at St. Nicholas Orthodox Cemetery, 1600 Krumroy Road, Akron 44306.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to macular degeneration research or your favorite cancer charity.
