Obituary of Susan M. Loucks
Susan Loucks passed away September 16, 2018.
She was born in Akron on June 6, 1953 to Alice and Willis Loucks.
Susan graduated with Honors from Stow High School in 1971 and Summa Cum Laude from Bowling Green State University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Music Education degree. At BGSU, she was a member of several honorary musical societies including Tau Beta Sigma Honorary Band Sorority; she was a member of the Marching, Symphonic Concert, and Pep bands; and the Brass Choir, Collegiate and Acapella Choir, and Opera. Susan earned a Master of Arts degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Akron in 1986. She was a member of Mortar Board.
Susan began her public school teaching career in 1975. For many years, she was both the children and adult choir director at various United Methodist Churches.
Susan was preceded in death by her father Willis Loucks, her step-father Robert Becher, and her husband of thirty years, Ray Parbel. She is survived by her mother Alice Becher of Cuyahoga Falls; and her brother Stephen Loucks of Ames, Iowa. She also leaves niece Sarah Loucks, nephew Charles Loucks, ten cousins, and a host of loyal friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 6th at 11 AM at First United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, 44221.
In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, contributions may be directed to the music department of the church in her memory.
