Obituary of John Benson Grissom
John B. Grissom, 89, passed away September 28, 2018, one month shy of his 90th birthday.
Born in Simpson, Illinois, John was an area resident since age 13. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, loved farming in Hudson and Peninsula, was a police officer with Hudson Township for six years, drove a school bus for Hudson City Schools, and retired from Pick-N-Pay Supermarkets where he worked in maintenance for over 30 years. He was a loyal Cavs, Indians, and Browns fan.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Leah Grissom; wife of 66 years, Helen; sisters, Ann Clewell, Norma Jean Richter, Sue Thomas, Alice Patricia McGrath, Marjie Origlio; and brother, James Grissom. He is survived by his daughter, Beverly (Paul) Katusha; sons, David, Richard (Linda) and Steve (Catherine); eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald (Marilyn) Grissom, Jack (Nancee) Grissom, and Jerry (Peggy) Grissom; sisters, Sandra Skinner, and Deborah Grissom; brothers-in-law, George Thomas, Patrick McGrath and John Origlio; sister-in-law, Elaine Grissom; and many other loving family and friends.
Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Friday, October 5 from 4 to 8 PM, where Deacon Richard Grissom will conduct service Saturday at 10 AM. Burial Markillie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Summa.
